Five Minutes to a Fresh Face

Disheveled hair, puffy eyes, and a sly redness on the left corner of your chin greet your reflection in the morning mirror. If you’re caught short on time and low on energy, I have just the thing to perk you right up. My 5 minutes to a fresh face routine will have you bright-eyed and bushy-tailed before you walk out the door, and the clock’s ticking, darling, so let’s get started.

Step 1. Wash your face. Any cleanser will do, but I prefer to wash my face with my tried, and true combination of Bioderma Sensibio Foaming Gel face wash and Foreo Cleansing brush. The gentle bristles don’t irritate my sensitive skin but strong enough to get all the gunk out of my pores. Start with warm water to lather and open your pores, and finish with cold water to seal them and wake you up. It takes less than a minute and will have you feeling fresher in seconds.

Step 2. Moisturizer and sunscreen. Slap it on in that order to lock in maximum hydration and UV protection. Moisturizing will make your skin feel supple and bouncy and halfway to half awake. My favorites are the Glow Recipe Banana Soufflé and the Purito Sunscreens. I love the comfy water sunscreen because it doesn’t give me a white cast or feel greasy on my skin. Whatever your sunblock of choice, slather it on and get ready for the next step.

Step 3. Rohto Eye drops. If you freak out with drops, you can skip this step. Take two drops in each eye. These dorps will eliminate any redness, brighten your eyes, and leave you with a cool zing that will make you feel awake.

Step 4. Eye-roller. If you’re like me and have puffy eyes, try a quartz, jade, or metal ball eye-roller. If you don’t have one, you can always pop to metal spoons in the freezer and use them in place of a roller. Rolling your under-eye area is crucial if you’re puffy prone and the cooling sensation is magical.

Step 5. BB cream & concealer. Whether you prefer a bb cream, cc cream, or tinted moisturizer, any will suffice. Apply it to your skin with your fingers or with a damp beauty blender for added hydration. Then spot-treat any redness with a light dab of concealer, and set it with your favorite setting spray.

Step 6. Dry shampoo. Honey, there is no shame in the dry shampoo game. Whether you’re running late or you don’t feel like washing your hair, grab a can of dry shampoo, douse your locks with a hearty spray, and let it sit for a bit to soak up all the oils in your hair. After about a minute, brush out the white cast, and style it as desired. I usually go for a messy bun or headband if I’m in a rush, but if not, I might take the time to blow it out.

Step 7. Top your look off with your favorite gloss, and you’re good to go.

Step 8 (optional). Pop on some pink or, if you must, one of the other less fun colors to brighten your morning keep you feeling fabulous all day long. Now you’re ready to take on the day.

I hope this little routine helps you as much as it helps me on the days that I can’t get out of bed. Comment below with your favorite quick and easy beauty tips so I can try them too.

With Love from the Lonestar,

Isabella
