Before we get into this review of my Poshmark experience, let me first say that this is not a sponsored post, and secondly that I am not the kind of girl that turns her nose up at shopping pre-loved fashion. If you have any qualms about this style of shopping fabulous fashion at a ridiculously affordable price without ever having to leave your home, then this might not be for you. However, those of you savvy shoppers, stick with me ‘cause I am about to take you to the Promised Land.
Affordable
If you’ve got more pennies than plastic in your pockets, Poshmark is for you Puddin’! I love clothes, the problem for collegiate me pre-Poshmark was that like many students, I didn’t have the funds to keep up with my favorite designers as frequently as I’d like. Then I discovered Posh. This app that stocks some of my favorite brands like J. Crew, Banana Republic, Lilly Pulitzer, Kate Spade, Hunter, Vineyard Vines, and Brooks Brothers became my go-to in college. I mean can you imagine finding Hunter boots, WITH the tags still on them for under $50? Be still my beating heart! In fact, this entire outfit minus the leggings and accessories is from Poshmark! Another great thing found in Posh is the “offer button.” This feature allows you to bargain with sellers for a better price; just no low ball offers—don’t be that person. With the help of this darling little app, I was able to add some fabulous pieces to my wardrobe, without having to sell my right kidney to do it.
Yes sugar, it’s real
If you have the pockets to shop high-end and are concerned with getting hoodwinked by designer dupes, you can rest easy. Poshmark offers free item authentication and free shipping on items priced over $500. If you get a dupe, you get your money back. You can also get a refund on items under $500 if the seller falsely advertises them to be authentic. Click here for the full authentication policy.
Fast Shipping But…
I have a love-hate relationship with Poshmark shipping. While it is relatively fast (1-3 days) it’s a flat rate of $7.11 regardless of the size or price of your purchase. Great news for some, not so great for others. However, sometimes if a vendor lowers the price of an item in their closet, Poshmark will discount the shipping to $4.99. The seller can also choose to send you an offer to eat up the shipping cost out of their profit when they lower the price of an item. Another way to save on shipping is by “bundling,” or purchasing more than one item from the same seller. One of my least favorite things about Posh shipping is that the sellers have full control over when they decide to drop off your purchase in the mail. Most people typically ship in 1-2 days, but I have had to cancel a few purchases because the seller never shipped. Click here to learn more about the cancelation policy.
Item description
When it comes to the item description, it’s completely up to the seller to disclose what condition their product is in. This has rarely been an issue for me, but every once-in-awhile there’s a sly little sneak that will try to sell you something that’s not as pristine as they painted it. When this happens, don’t fret. You can get a full refund by opening a case and letting Posh know that you’ve been bamboozled by the seller and would like to return the item. Posh support is highly efficient when it comes to dealing with cases like this and will usually have a response and return shipping label for you within a few short days. Click here for the full return policy.
Want to start your own closet?
If you’re looking to clear out some space in your actual closet and wouldn’t mind making some money from it, consider selling your clothes on Posh. It takes seconds to generate a listing and you don’t pay for the shipping. I have only been actively selling for a short while, and I have already made over $500 in sales. Posh does take a commission of $2.95 for items $15 and under, and 20% for items over $15 for hosting your closet on their site, a fair trade if you ask me. If selling on Posh sounds like something you might be interested in, give it a shot! Your pre-loved clothes could score you some serious cash!
The Poshmark member code
Like I said at the beginning of this post, Poshmark isn’t sponsoring me. However, this app generates a unique code for all its members to share with their friends to earn unlimited FREE Posh credits. Share your way to some extra cash, by sending your code to your friends through text, email, Facebook, or Twitter. Every time a Posh member shares their code Poshmark gives the person who received it $5 in Posh credits. After they make their first purchase, Poshmark also credits the person who shared the code $5! It’s a win-win, and there’s no cap on how many credits you can earn! Think of the Posh-abilities!
Final thoughts
While there are a few drawbacks to shopping on Posh, I think it’s a great site that allows fashionistas of all incomes and styles to find fabulous pieces at affordable prices. With Poshmark you can buy, sell, and trade your way to the closet you’ve always dreamed of. If you want a piece of the $5 free Posh credits I mentioned earlier, I’ll leave my code for you below.
Happy Poshing!
With love from the Lonestar,
Isabella
